Do I have to be a member of the Newark Museum to travel with you?
Yes. We require that our travelers become members. Most of our trips are open to all levels of membership, but certain trips require Founder’s Society Membership.
How long has your program been I existence?
The Newark Museum has bee running travel programs for more than 35 years.
How rigorous are your trips?
Although the rigors of each trip vary, Newark Museum trips are generally moderately active. Many of the trips require significant walking and stair climbing, long travel days and the ability to climb on and off a bus without assistance. All travelers are expected to be in reasonably good health. Please speak to your doctor about any concerns or health related issues prior to booking a trip.
What kind of accommodations might I expect?
Our tour operators strive to select the best accommodations available. Many of the accommodations are based upon the integrity of the destination and if they are appropriate for the itinerary. Many of our choices tend to be in the 4-5 star range, but some more modest and rustic (though comfortable) in more remote areas.
Can you book my international air as well?
Although most of our trips do not include airfare, our tour operators are happy to assist you with your travel arrangements. They cannot however, work with your frequent flier miles to obtain airfare for you.
Should I purchase trip cancellation insurance?
The Newark Museum Travel Program strongly recommends that all travelers purchase trip cancellation insurance. Many things can happen prior to departure. Detailed information on trip cancellation insurance will be sent after your trip deposit has been received.
What are the penalties for cancelling my trip?
Cancellation penalties vary from trip to trip. Please read over all cancellation terms. Travel Insurance is strongly recommended. Please refer to each individual trip for particular cancellation fee schedules.
Do I need vaccines/medicine for my trip?
Each trip destination is different regarding health precautions. Refer to the Center for Disease Control or your personal physician for information.
Can I have a single room if I am traveling alone?
Single accommodations are available for every trip on a first-come, first-served basis.
Will there be any other groups besides Newark Museum on my trip?
Some of our trips are exclusive to the Newark Museum. However, we often share our cruises and jet programs with other travel programs (museums and alumni associations) simple because we cannot run these types of trips on our own.
