NEWARK CHESS CLUB
7 pm -- Enjoy pre-film chess activities
The Newark Chess Club is a mentorship program that teaches strategic theory and thought, through chess, create mentor/mentee relationships for adults and children, produce the Newark High School Chess Tournament, and provide a safe space for people of all ages to enjoy playing chess in an environment specifically designed for the development of the youth, the engagement of the mind, and the advancement of the game.

Living in the slum of Kampala, Uganda, is a constant struggle for 10-year-old Phiona and her family. Her world changes when she meets Robert Katende, a missionary who teaches children how to play chess. Her success in local competitions and tournaments opens the door to a bright future and a golden chance to escape from a life of poverty.
