During this three-day ceramics workshop, participants will make three components of the traditional tea ceremony: the lidded Matcha carrier, the tea bowl, and the platter. Using both coil and slab techniques, participants will form and trim their pieces. Once kiln fired, pieces will be glazed and finished. Included in the workshop, participants will tour of the Museum’s newest exhibition: Beyond Zen: Japanese Buddhism Revealed and end with a front row seat to a live tea ceremony performed in-house at the Museum’s Second Sundays event.
