STATEMENT FROM THENEW JERSEY STATE COUNCIL ONTHEARTS
On behalf of theNew Jersey StateCouncil on theArts,
we congratulate the artists represented in the 2014
New
Jersey Arts Annual
exhibition in fine arts, “Ready or Not.”
We are all enrichedby thework of artistswho help us to
see theworld and its possibilities in newways, andwe
are fortunate to have somany outstanding artists call New
Jersey home. The
New Jersey Arts Annual
exhibition
series continues to serve as an important forum for artists
in both fine arts and crafts, and theStateArtsCouncil
is proud to cosponsor this exhibitionwith TheNewark
Museum.
TheStateArtsCouncil is committed to servingNew
Jersey artists inmanyways. In addition to the
Arts
Annual
series, theArtsCouncil supports thework and
advancement of New Jersey artists through fellowships,
professional development, technical assistance,
networking and showcase opportunities, a virtual gallery
onwww.jerseyarts.com, and grants and incentives to
arts organizations to showcase andbetter serveNew
Jersey artists. TheCouncil alsomanages theArts
InclusionProgram, throughwhichworks of public art are
commissioned for State buildings. Our programs and
services for individual artists represent some of ourmost
important and rewardingwork.
TheCouncil applauds the boards and staff of the five
museums that participate in the
Arts Annual
series: the
Montclair ArtMuseum, MorrisMuseum, New Jersey State
Museum, theNoyesMuseum of StocktonCollege, and
most especially TheNewarkMuseum. Thesemuseums
are driven by true commitment toNew Jersey artists and
tomakingNew Jersey a better place through the arts. We
particularly thankStevenKern, Director andCEO, Ulysses
Grant Dietz, Chief Curator andCurator of DecorativeArts,
Shlomit Dror, ConsultingCurator of AmericanArts and
guest juror, RocioAranda-Alvarado, Curator El Museo
del Barrio formaking such a substantial investment in the
success of this program and formounting this beautiful
exhibition.
