These curatorial notes and research materials were compiled in preparation of the 1978 exhibition, "Murals Without Walls." The papers, created by guest curator, Ruth Bowman, document her work with the Museum and the Port Authority in restoring Gorky's WPA murals located at Newark Airport. Bowman organized the papers into twenty series with no apparent arrangement.
